How Nickel & Know collects, uses, stores, protects, and shares information when you use the app and its related services.
PANfinity and Beyond LLC (“PANfinity and Beyond,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, disclosed, stored, and protected when you use the Nickel & Know mobile application (“Nickel & Know” or the “App”) and related services.
By using Nickel & Know, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create or use a Nickel & Know account, we may collect information necessary to create, authenticate, secure, and maintain your account, such as your email address, account identifier, authentication information, and related account records.
We do not need your Apple ID password, bank password, or other financial-institution login credentials.
Financial Information You Enter
Nickel & Know allows you to manually enter financial information, which may include:
- Account names and balances
- Income information
- Bills and recurring expenses
- Transactions and spending information
- Budgeting information
- Financial goals and other information you choose to enter
This information is used to provide the budgeting and financial-management features you request.
Connected Financial Account Information
Certain paid Nickel & Know features allow you to connect supported financial accounts using Plaid.
When you choose to connect an account, authentication with your financial institution is handled through Plaid and/or your financial institution. Nickel & Know does not receive or store your online-banking username or password.
Depending on the financial institution, account permissions, and features you use, information made available to Nickel & Know through Plaid may include:
- Financial institution name
- Account name and type
- Account identifiers or masked account information
- Current and available balances
- Transaction information
- Merchant or transaction descriptions
- Transaction dates and amounts
- Recurring transaction information
- Other financial information authorized through your connection
The information available may vary by financial institution.
Information processed through Plaid is also subject to Plaid's applicable privacy practices.
Subscription and Purchase Information
Premium and Premium+ subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store.
Apple processes payment information associated with App Store purchases. PANfinity and Beyond LLC does not receive or store your complete payment-card information from Apple.
We may receive and process subscription-related information necessary to determine your access to paid features, such as:
- Subscription product
- Subscription tier
- Transaction identifiers
- Subscription status
- Purchase and expiration information
- Signed transaction information supplied by Apple
- Information needed to associate an App Store subscription with your Nickel & Know account
Technical and Service Information
We may process technical information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve the App and its services, such as authentication records, request information, error information, service logs, and device or application information made available through the services we use.
We do not use financial information to provide third-party behavioral advertising.
How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- Create and authenticate your Nickel & Know account
- Provide budgeting and financial-management features
- Display account balances and transactions
- Synchronize connected financial information
- Detect potential recurring bills, payments, or income when applicable
- Generate spending, budgeting, and cash-flow insights
- Provide Premium and Premium+ features
- Verify subscription status
- Maintain and secure the App and backend services
- Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, security incidents, and technical problems
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
- Improve the reliability and functionality of Nickel & Know
Financial Information and Plaid
Nickel & Know uses Plaid to provide supported financial-account connectivity.
When you choose to connect a financial institution, information is exchanged according to the permissions associated with that connection.
Nickel & Know does not independently collect your financial institution login password. Authentication is performed through Plaid and/or your financial institution.
Financial information supplied through a connected account may not always be instantaneous, complete, or identical to the information currently displayed by your financial institution.
You may disconnect supported financial accounts through available Nickel & Know functionality. Account deletion will also trigger the applicable removal process for financial connections associated with your Nickel & Know account.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal financial information.
We may disclose information to service providers when reasonably necessary to operate Nickel & Know. These may include providers supporting:
- Financial-account connectivity
- Cloud infrastructure and data storage
- Authentication and account security
- App distribution and subscription processing
- Technical operations and security
For example, Nickel & Know currently uses services provided by Plaid, Apple, and Amazon Web Services for portions of its functionality.
These providers may process information according to their respective agreements and privacy practices.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, enforce our agreements, protect our rights or users, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect the security of Nickel & Know.
If PANfinity and Beyond LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law.
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Nickel & Know, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the security and integrity of our services.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it is maintained.
When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with the account except information we are legally required or otherwise permitted to retain.
Information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or disaster-recovery systems until those systems are overwritten or expire according to applicable retention practices.
Account Deletion
You may initiate deletion of your Nickel & Know account from within the App.
Account deletion is intended to delete your Nickel & Know account and associated personal data that PANfinity and Beyond LLC is not legally required to retain.
Deleting the Nickel & Know application from your device does not by itself delete your Nickel & Know account.
Deleting your Nickel & Know account also does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. Subscriptions purchased through Apple are managed through your Apple Account and must be canceled separately if you do not want them to renew.
Apple specifically recommends making this distinction clear to subscribers during account deletion.

Your Choices
Depending on the functionality available to your account, you may be able to:
- Edit manually entered financial information
- Disconnect linked financial accounts
- Manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through Apple
- Restore eligible App Store purchases
- Delete your Nickel & Know account
- Contact us regarding privacy questions or requests
Certain privacy rights may also be available to you under applicable law.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information handled through Nickel & Know.
These measures may include encrypted communications, authentication controls, restricted service access, and protections for sensitive backend information.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Nickel & Know is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected in circumstances requiring parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Third-Party Services
Nickel & Know relies on third-party services for certain functionality.
Your interactions with those services may also be governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
PANfinity and Beyond LLC is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party services.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to Nickel & Know, our practices, legal requirements, or third-party services.
When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date shown above. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
